Accountant II (Human Services)  

Pay Range: $34.10 - $43.25 per hour (Non-Bargaining Pay Plan, C43 Step 1-13)

Hiring Range: $34.10 - $36.19 per hour (Non-Bargaining Pay Plan, C43 Step 1-4 DOQ)  

There is one Accountant II opening with the Yakima County Human Services Department. This position is responsible for interpreting federal, state, and local laws and guidelines for specific grants and funding sources in the course of evaluating and processing subgrantee reimbursement requests; performing professional-level accounting services with detailed accounting/compliance; developing complex reports for management’s use in fiscal decision making; monitoring and analyzing revenues and expenditures; and ensuring contract compliance for the Human Services Department and its subgrantees. Position will also consist of maintaining subrecipient files and assisting in administering contracts. Position will utilize role knowledge to create narratives explaining rationale behind contract modifications. The position will be tasked with compiling documents from various sources to construct contracts for sub-grantees. Position will be responsible for completing facesheets and budgets for these contracts, ensuring thoroughness and precision in each component, and coordinating with the Community Grants and Partnerships Manager to create coordination between contract budgets and key activity narratives.  

Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field AND three (3) years of progressively responsible financial experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job preferred.
