General Summary of Responsibilities

The Advertising Operations Coordinator is an integral part of our sales operation.  You will report to the Sr. Director of Advertising and work with the sales team to fulfill orders, layout the newspaper, and light design work.  Ensuring deadline adherence, attention-to-detail, and ability to multi-task are essential. 

Essential Job Functions

  • Always demonstrate honesty and integrity.
  • Excellent communication (written & verbal).
  • Work with sales team to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Work with design team through the ad creative process
  • Provide superior customer service internally and externally.
  • Light creative ad design
  • Layout the newspaper (Classifieds, Display, Obits, etc.)
  • Maintain a positive, open and energized team atmosphere.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a big plus.
  • This is an onsite position based in the Walla Walla Union Bulletin office.
  • Participate in sales team meetings.
  • This position will also handle our major accounts desk; taking and scheduling orders, reviewing insertion orders for accuracy, providing updated reports to sales director as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to learn advertising software programs.
  • Able to manage multiple projects.
  • Outstanding communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to work 40/hours Monday-Friday 9am-6pm

Experience

2 years in a customer service role. Experience in a media marketing team environment is a plus, but willing to train the right person.  Some graphic design experience helpful.

Skills and Abilities / Lifting Requirements (Maximum weight required)

This position requires a strong aptitude for learning and working with Microsoft suite of products, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.  Must have reliable transportation.  Good organizational skills, multi-tasking, and good understanding of the digital landscape as it relates to websites and the internet.

Minimum Education, certifications or licenses 

High school diploma.

Must interact and work well with others internally and externally.  Excellent communication skills and teamwork.

Supervision Received

Requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.  Attend weekly sales meetings, training, adhere to deadlines.

Will not supervise others

Multiple products, projects and deadlines.  Multi-tasking and be well organized.

Primary Job Location (Indicate whether the position is remote, or travel required)

 

The position is based at our Walla Walla Union Bulletin office, Walla Walla, Washington.  Not remote.  Work schedule is Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm.
