The City of Walla Walla offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, vision, and dental health insurance. NATURE OF POSITION: Under the direction of the Fleet Services Supervisor assist with planning, coordinating, and daily operations of the Fleet Maintenance, fuel, and wash facilities. Perform lead duties to provide operational oversight of work crews including scheduling, training, reviewing, assisting, and providing work direction to assigned Fleet Services staff. Perform, monitor, and schedule journey-level diagnostics, maintenance, and repair procedures on the City’s fleet of light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles, utility, public safety and emergency response vehicles, construction, road maintenance, signal, grounds maintenance, refuse collection, urban forest, and underground inspection equipment, including all associated systems.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school or equivalent and (2) two years trade school certification in automotive or diesel mechanics and (4) four years professional experience in automotive or equipment repair and maintenance; or (5) five years journey-level experience in automotive, heavy-duty truck or equipment repair and maintenance in a fleet environment including diesel, gasoline, and alternative fuel powered vehicles and equipment. Valid State driver's license, and Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain within six months.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Progressively responsible supervisory experience. Bilingual in Spanish.
