Ag Health Labs provides high quality, accurate scientific analytical services to agricultural producers of the Northwest, with an emphasis in milk quality, feed analysis, and diagnostic services.
Job Summary:
This position will have multiple responsibilities that will center around lab analysis and office administration. The Laboratory Technician will support operations through the effective execution of both lab processes and office administrative tasks. This person will need to be versatile in the tasks being performed.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Performs detailed intake and data entry of lab samples.
Performs feed processing tasks including but not limited to weighing, drying, grinding, and NIR analysis of feed samples.
Performs milk culturing tasks, including but not limited to milk plating, lining plates, performing bulk tank series, and may support microbiologists in processing blood ELISAs and other assays.
Perform office administrative tasks, such as processing orders, filing, assisting staff with data management tasks.
Responsible for equipment sanitization and cleaning, including veterinarian surgery kits, chemistry tools and glassware.
Supports veterinarian and lab operations through facility housekeeping and linen laundering.
Adheres to written SOPs and conducts all other lab techniques as assigned under the supervision and guidance of the lab managers.
Provides customer service through client interaction, answering phones, and may be required to respond to emails.
Maintains a safe working environment; complies with safety standards and the accident prevention plan.
Ensures continuity of operations for all feed lab functions, filling in where necessary to expedite lab throughput.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Punctual and reliable attendance is required
Ability to maintain focus with extreme attention to detail
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Comfortable using computers
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to learn new computer software or web based-programs as necessary
Content conducting repetitive tasks for long periods of time
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment, often balancing multiple priorities
Proven ability to work well with others in a team environment
Self-motivated and able to work with little supervision while achieving superior results
Desired Skills/Abilities:
Bi-lingual (Spanish and English languages)
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED (minimum requirement)
1 year experience in processing/manufacturing or laboratory setting desired but not required
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of standing
Ability to work with substances such as hay, alfalfa, corn silage, triticale, manure, milk, and ruminant blood.
Exposure to warm, humid, cold, and dusty environments
Ability to wear PPE such as but not limited to dust masks, gloves, and safety glasses for prolonged periods of time.
