KEES has been exclusively retained by The Salvation Army (Northwest Division/Seattle) in its search for a new Donor Relations Director (aka Major Gifts Officer-remote) to cover Eastern Washington.
The Donor Relations Director (DRD) (aka Major Gifts Officer) plays an integral role in supporting the mission of the Army through ongoing and proactive relationship management, strategic communications plans, gifts cultivation and solicitation activity. The DRD will identify, qualify, be assigned, cultivate, solicit and steward major gift donors (90%) and prospects (10%), acting as the primary contact between The Army and the assigned caseload, with an emphasis on securing gifts of $5,000 and much higher.
An equally important goal of the role is to retain and strengthen existing giving. In this particular geographic area (Eastern Washington in addition to portions of Idaho and Montana) there are pockets of donors ranging from $1,000 to potential six and seven-figure donors. This individual will be assigned donors in Grandview, Great Falls, Havre, Helena, Kalispell (MT), Lewiston (ID), the Mid-Columbia region, Missoula, Ravalli County, Moses Lake, Tri-Cities, Walla Walla, Wenatchee and Yakima. The DRD will travel to all the geographies above, with a frequency that matches the volume of donors and prospects in each area.
This position reports to Sara Beksinski, Director of Development, who is based in Seattle, and there will be regular interaction with quarterly in-person meetings. This role will be assigned a vehicle given the required amount of car travel, although for more distant locations (i.e., Kalispell) air travel will be required.
Some of the specific requirements include:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a non-profit fundraising role with a proven track record of major gifts success.
- Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment without extensive administrative support. Must be highly organized and able to effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities with professionalism and grace.
- Demonstrated goal orientation, with a drive to achieve goals within agreed-upon timeframes.
- Effective interpersonal, conversational, and presentation skills, demonstrating emotional intelligence, situational awareness, excellent writing abilities, and strong case development and pitching skills.
- A career track record that shows stability with an organization and capacity to develop and nurture relationships culminating in overall success.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly. Valid Driver’s License required with clean driving record.
- Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience.
A full listing of requirements can be found in the Opportunity Guide document.
To assure confidential tracking of all applicants, applications will only be accepted via the application link on this page (in the KEES Applicant System). This position offers strong benefits. All inquiries will be held in strict confidence.
