Reports to: Features editor, managing editor

Responsible for writing feature stories, editing content and planning the Yakima Herald-Republic's special publications, including niche magazines.
Coordinates photography, creates and supplies graphics to accompany content.
Must be able to gather information quickly, efficiently and accurately.
Requires someone who can effectively edit content and meet tight deadlines.
Builds community connections, identifies trends that translate to compelling feature content.
Primary Responsibilities Develop ideas for special publications.
Research and write stories for special publications, employing journalistic standards for ethics and accuracy.
Edit and proof all written/submitted content for special publications.
Coordinate photographs for special publications.
Engage audiences on YHR special publications social media accounts.
Coordinate writing, editing, planning with features editor, managing editor.
Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Education, Skills and Abilities Bachelor's degree in English, journalism or related field.
Demonstrated ability as a writer and editor.
At least one year of professional experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office. A basic understanding of Adobe tools ?
especially Photoshop ? is a big plus.
Magazine layout. Photo editing.
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Event management experience is strongly desired.
A valid Washington state driver's license and an insured vehicle are required.
